Duruflé Requiem

Experience brilliant choral masterpieces at Houston Choral Society's concert on Friday, April 26th at 7:30pm. Duruflé’s Requiem has been captivating audiences for almost 80 years with its Impressionistic take on age-old melodies. Selections from Howard Goodall's modern work Eternal Light: A Requiem will complete this evening of moving choral and orchestral composition directed by Dr. Kevin Klotz at the beautiful Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. HCS is joined by HCU's Schola Cantorum for this special concert, which also features an enlightening talk by Dr. Charles Hausmann at 7pm.

Music of the Moment

Immerse yourself in a modern musical journey with a choral concert dedicated exclusively to contemporary choral compositions of the last decade. This unique event showcases the innovative and diverse voices of today's musical landscape. Through intricate harmonies, and unconventional rhythms, the concert unveils the creative spirit of our time. The concert will include a world premiere of an HCS-commissioned piece by talented composer Heather Sorenson, who will be in attendance. Come early for her pre-concert talk at 7pm!

Handel Messiah

Handel Messiah

The holidays are here! It’s time for hot cocoa, festive decorations, special time with family, and…Handel’s Messiah! Houston Choral Society's exceptional 90-voice chorus and soloists, along with a professional orchestra, will present this treasured masterpiece at The Foundry Church (8350 Jones Rd.) on Saturday, December 16th from  7:30-9pm. Artistic Director Dr. Kevin Klotz and the Houston Choral Society will take you on a journey through selections from all three parts of Messiah. You'll hear favorites such as “For unto us a child is born” and the “Hallelujah” (of course!), and the magnificent finale, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain.” 

Come at 7:00 p.m. to enjoy a good ol' fashioned Christmas Carol sing-along and a special appearance by Santa!

War & Peace

War & Peace

We invite you to join us for this dramatic program as it unfolds in works such as John Rutter's “Lord, Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace”, Kim André Arnesen's, “What is Peace?” as well as Paul Mealor's "In Flanders Fields." The concert will culminate in a performance of Joseph Haydn's Missa in tempore belli (Mass in Time of War).
